Irish Snug Running Club in Antarctica!!

Irish Snug Running Club members Joe Tarnow and Chris Wilson offered these amazing photos taken from the December 25, 2007 "Race Around the World" held at the South Pole...it's a two-mile run around the world that they made in their Irish Snug Running Club t-shirts (guys, we could have gotten you some Irish Snug SWEATSHIRTS to keep you warm).  We're hoping they have more pictures to share!

Milestones: Multiple start times and t-shirt qualifier

The ISRC has grown quite a bit in the span of 18 months. We now have about 1600 members, and we are adding on average 50 new runners a week. We want to keep growing, but still keep this a fun club for everyone. We have a few ideas in mind to make the Snug experience better for everybody. And as we continue to grow, we will be adapting to more new ideas.

Free Irish Snug Running Club shirt after ten runs. Effective after the April 10th run, everyone that signs up will have to run ten times to get a shirt. You will still get the same quality running shirt, the post-run buffet-style pasta appetizer, and the same great service by the Irish Snug wait staff.

2 Start Times - Effective April 10, we will have two start times. We can now choose from the original start time at 6:30 pm, or a new, earlier 6:15 pm time. Choose the start time that fits your schedule. We are also looking at a new route for the new start time, but that is still a work in progress.

Signing In

You all know that you have to sign in at every run. One thing we do ask of you is to please write legibly. Otherwise you may not get credit for that run, and just when you think you have enough runs to get the shirt, you come up one short because we couldn't read your writing.  Which leads us to another issue: we have runners without a valid email address.  That may be because we registered for you following a recent run.  You need to update your information and add a valid email address.  You need two things to qualify for club membership: a signed waiver and a valid email address.

Sign a Waiver - every new member must sign a waiver before their first run.  If you have run before and have not signed a waiver, please do so at the next registration, otherwise you may not qualify to get a shirt.

Valid Email Address - check the roster and give us a current email address.  With some cancelled runs and other information needed to be given all members, your email address is required for membership and the perquisites that membership brings. Be part of the Irish Snug Running Club community!

Rules of the Road

  • Share The Trail - Other runners in the park (yes, there are a few runners out there that aren't members, yet) need to be able to run there without getting knocked over.
  • Pick Up After Your Dog - we all love dogs (I think) and if you must run with yours, you have to pick up after it.
  • Wear Your Irish Snug Runners Shirt - Hey, this is what we ran for at the beginning isn't it? To get the coveted running shirt. So show pride and wear it.
  • Sign a Waiver - every new member must sign a waiver before their first run.  If you have run before and have not signed a waiver, please do so otherwise you may not qualify to get a shirt.
  • Have Fun!

Visit the Runner's Forum

It's brand new...a forum to start topics, express interests and ideas, submit polls, and more.  You have to be a member--and signed in--to go to The Forum.  You can discuss being part of a relay team and more of the latest information about upcoming runs and other events, carpooling to races, and more.

Other Races

The first place to find information about sign ups and details is the events page, but there's interactive support at the Irish Snug Running Club Forum, as well.

Get ready for the biggest and best running event in Colorado.  The Bolder Boulder 10K is on May 26th and The Irish Snug is once again planning on being a part of it.  We will be taking the Miller Lite bus up to Boulder, run the race, hang out, and then come back to the Snug on the bus.  If you're interested, please see Dave Gillikin to sign up.  The bus is limited to 35 people and if we get more than that signing up, we will take the runners that have the most runs.  The cost to you is only $5.00, so make sure that you sign up soon.

Go to the events page for more information on current outside runs, or visit the forum.

We Are Special

After the run, we are served up some of the finest spaghetti this side of Colfax. There's also the wonderful sauce, the excellent salad and the ever tasty garlic bread. Now that we have so many runners, please make sure that we share this fine feast.

You can always go back for seconds, so please take it a bit easy when going thru the line the first time so that everybody gets something to eat. We also have Guinness, Miller Lite and Jameson on special all night along with Car Bombs after 8:00 p.m.  Please be kind to your wait staff and tip graciously...while much is free, these workers deserve our support.

Make sure everyone knows you're special, too!  Be sure to register, log your runs with timely check-ins and be sure to wear your Irish Snug Running Club t-shirt.  You've earned it!
